Charlie Collins: Staying cool in the heat of racing

Charlie’s life has been filled with racing. His father, who had a brief stint in motorcycle racing, introduced him to Formula 1 and to console games like Forza Motorsport. Collins was racing in go-karts in Great Britian already but playing those games with his father kickstarted his interest and ambition for Sim Racing.

What excites him is the relentless high level of equal competition, because nothing but your skills decide your performance. No excuses, nobody to blame: That is what pushes him to get better every day.

Joining Coanda Esports, changed both my career and life in such a huge way.

Charlie Collins, Worksdriver, Porsche Coanda Esports Racing Team

Being the humble one in the team, Collins states he doesn’t even know what makes him a great driver, but the truth is, his ability to keep his cool in very heated, high-stress situations is a massive strength. Staying focused on the race enables him to impress even when he is under intense pressure. Examples for proof: the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, where he claimed third position in his rookie season, or the 2023 IMSA Esports Global Championship. A championship he claims always reminds him of how much fun sim racing actually is.

I don’t want to put a limit on myself with position-based goals. I just want to improve as a driver and person.

* All new vehicles offered by Porsche are type-approved according to WLTP. Official NEDC values derived from WLTP values are no longer available for new vehicles as of 1 January 2023 and can therefore not be provided.

Where values are indicated as ranges, they do not refer to a single, specific vehicle and are not part of the offered product range. They are only for the purposes of comparison between different vehicle tyrpes. Additional equipment and accessories (add-on parts, tyre formats etc.) can change relevant vehicle parameters such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics. These factors, in addition to weather, traffic conditions and driving behaviour, can influence the fuel/electricity consumption, CO₂ emissions, range and performance values of a vehicle.

More information about the differences between WLTP and NEDC is available at www.porsche.com/wltp.
