With a quieter month amid summer breaks, here’s a preview of Porsche Motorsport’s activities in August.

Though many series take time off in August, there is still plenty of racing action to look forward to under the summer sun.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship heads to Road America on August 3 for the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix.

With Porsche Penske Motorsport sitting first and second in the drivers’ standings, and top of the teams’ and manufacturers’ championships, it’s proving another brilliant season Stateside.

Closer to home, the DTM visits the Nürburgring and Sachsenring for its fifth and sixth rounds of eight in 2025, with three Porsche drivers battling for success.

In the one-make series, Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup follows Formula 1 to Hungary’s Hungaroring and Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands.

Here’s a full preview of all the Porsche Motorsport activities taking place in August:

IMSA: Road America

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship travels north to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for its eighth round of the season at Road America on August 3.

The Motul SportsCar Grand Prix, a two-hour and forty-minute sprint race, sees all the championship’s classes take on the 4 mile / 6.4 kilometre track, featuring 14 turns.

This scenic circuit - still maintaining its original layout from the 1950s - includes a trademark long front stretch, where speeds can reach nearly 200mph / 320 km/h.

Porsche Penske Motorsport took a 1-2 at this race last season, with the #6 car claiming victory, and will be hoping to repeat the feat this year as another brilliant championship continues.

Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet currently lead the drivers’ standings in the #6 Porsche 963 with 2028 points, having taken a win at Laguna Seca and a further four podiums from the first six rounds of the season.

Close behind are the #7 crew and reigning champions Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy, who have three wins - at Daytona, Sebring and Long Beach - while they finished second at Laguna Seca. They have 2016 points and lead the Michelin Endurance Cup standings.

Porsche Penske Motorsport is top in the teams’ standings, and Porsche leads the manufacturers’ points.

In GTD Pro, Klaus Bachler and Laurin Heinrich are currently second in the fight for the title in the AO Racing #77 Roxy Porsche 911 GT3 R.

DTM: Nürburgring and Sachsenring

August features two races for the DTM - rounds five and six at the Nürburgring and Sachsenring respectively.

First, from August 8 to 10, the championship heads to the iconic Nürburgring in the heart of the Eifel region.

Entering the second half of the season, drivers will tackle the short version of the Grand Prix circuit at Germany’s most famous race track.

Two weeks later, the series heads east to the Sachsenring in Saxony for races 11 and 12 of 2025.

Running on the same 3.671 km / 2.281 mi layout which MotoGP’s German Grand Prix uses, the course features 13 undulating turns with plenty of opportunities for action.

Heading into round five, Manthey EMA driver Thomas Preining - who won the title in 2023 - is second in the standings, just seven points behind the leader and in hot pursuit.

Team-mate Ayhancan Güven is eighth in the championship, having taken two wins so far this year at Oschersleben and Zandvoort.

Morris Schuring, taking on his maiden DTM campaign with the Manthey Junior Team, sits 15th and is currently on a run of five consecutive points finishes.

Manthey leads the teams’ standings with 201 points, 17 points clear of its closest rival.

Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup: Hungaroring and Zandvoort

Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup continues its championship with two more races in August, heading to the Hungaroring and Zandvoort either side of the summer break.

The pinnacle of one-make series racing, the series has raced alongside Formula 1 since its debut in 1993.

The championship sees top drivers from the very best international Porsche one-make series customer teams compete against each other in identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, having progressed through national Porsche Carrera Cups.

This month, the series visits Hungary’s Hungaroring from August 1 to 3, supporting Formula 1’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

The championship will then take its summer break before returning at the end of August for the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort from August 29 to 31.

These two rounds mark rounds six and seven of the 2025 championship, with just one remaining - the season finale at Monza in September.

After the Belgian round, Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti leads the standings on 75.5 points, ahead of Robert de Haan and Flynt Schuring.
