For the first time, drivers can begin that journey in a purpose-built race car based on the iconic 911 and progress through multiple levels of competition while remaining within the same platform.

Designed as Porsche's newest entry-level race car, the 911 Challenge combines key elements of the latest 911 GT3 road car with proven motorsport technology. The result is a purpose-built race car that delivers the performance & emotional connection expected from Porsche while remaining approachable for drivers taking their first steps into motorsport.

Beyond organized competition, the 911 Challenge will also open new opportunities for dedicated track-day use. Whether the goal is competing in a Porsche One-Make championship, improving as a driver, or simply enjoying a purpose-built race car on track, the 911 Challenge provides a new way to experience Porsche Motorsport.

A new starting point in the 911 family.

For years, the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport & RS Clubsport introduced thousands of drivers to Porsche customer racing. They served a unique dual purpose, acting as both Porsche's entry-level race car and its GT4-homologated competition platform. Their versatility and success helped launch the careers of countless Porsche racers.

The arrival of the 911 GT4 R created an opportunity to redefine that first step. As the successor to the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in GT4 competition, the 911 GT4 R now occupies Porsche's dedicated GT4 racing space. That allowed Porsche Motorsport to create a new car focused specifically on introducing drivers to racing.

The result is a more connected progression through Porsche Motorsport.

Rather than beginning a racing career in one platform and progressing into another, drivers can now start their journey in a purpose-built race car based on the latest Porsche 911 and remain within the 911 family as they advance.

A customer may begin with track days, testing, and driver development in a 911 Challenge before moving into Porsche Sprint Trophy or Porsche Sprint & Endurance Challenge competition using the same car. From there, the progression to a 911 Cup car in Sprint & Endurance Challenge and eventually Porsche Carrera Cup North America becomes more natural, with every step building upon familiarity developed behind the wheel of a 911.

Beyond Porsche One-Make competition, the path can continue into the 911 GT4 R and, ultimately, the 911 GT3 R, Porsche's flagship customer race car.

Porsche now offers a development ladder that can begin and remain rooted in a single platform.

At the heart of the 911 Challenge is a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six derived from the current 911 GT3. Producing 508 horsepower and revving to 9,000 rpm, it delivers the unmistakable character that has made the GT3 one of Porsche's most celebrated road cars.

Power is delivered through a seven-speed PDK transmission, allowing drivers to choose between automatic operation or steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifts. Unlike many purpose-built race cars, the 911 Challenge intentionally preserves much of the familiarity of the road-going GT3, making the transition into motorsport feel more natural for newcomers.

That philosophy extends throughout the car.

Adjustable ABS, traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+), air conditioning, and a GT3 RS-derived steering wheel all contribute to a driving experience that feels approachable without sacrificing performance.

For experienced racers, these systems offer flexibility and consistency. For newcomers, they provide confidence and help shorten the learning curve.

Beginning with the 2027 season, the Porsche 911 Challenge will be eligible for competition across multiple Porsche One-Make racing series in North America. Porsche Sprint Challenge North America For many drivers, Sprint Challenge represents the first step into professionally managed Porsche racing. Featuring sprint-format competition across North America's premier racing circuits, the championship groups competitors into classes based on age and experience, creating a competitive environment where drivers can develop racecraft, build confidence, and progress as racers.

Porsche Endurance Challenge North America Unlike sprint racing, Endurance Challenge introduces drivers to the strategic and team-oriented elements of endurance competition. Competitors can pair with their coach or another co-driver during longer-format races while gaining experience with driver changes, pit strategy, traffic management, and vehicle preservation. Racing alongside multiple classes of cars also helps prepare drivers for the multi-class, multi-manufacturer environments found in championships and events such as IMSA & SRO competition, the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Porsche Sprint Trophy Porsche Club of America Operating primarily on the East Coast, Sprint Trophy PCA provides an approachable introduction to wheel-to-wheel racing for drivers looking to take the next step beyond track days and driver education events. Integrated with one of the world's largest Porsche owner organizations, the series combines competitive racing with a welcoming environment that encourages learning, development, and progression.

Porsche Sprint Trophy Porsche Owners Club Launching in 2027, the recently announced Sprint Trophy POC creates a new West Coast home for first-time racers and experienced competitors alike. Designed as a premium complement to the POC Cup Racing Series, it offers an approachable introduction to wheel-to-wheel competition while maintaining the competitive, community-focused atmosphere that has defined Porsche Owners Club racing for decades.

Historically, Porsche Motorsport North America has primarily sold race cars to customers intending to compete in organized racing championships. Beginning in 2027, the initial deliveries of the 911 Challenge will be allocated to customers competing in Porsche One-Make championships across North America. As production increases, additional vehicles will become available to customers seeking a dedicated track-day car for testing, coaching, driver development, and private motorsport activities.

For drivers who already own a GT3 and regularly participate in high-performance driving events, the transition into a dedicated race car becomes more approachable than ever before. The familiarity of the 911 platform remains, while the capability of a true motorsport machine unlocks an entirely new level of performance.

Although closely related to the road-going GT3, the 911 Challenge leaves no doubt about its purpose.

A welded roll cage reinforces the chassis, while a 110-liter FIA FT3 fuel cell, adjustable racing bucket seat, six-point harness, and integrated fire-extinguishing system provide the safety equipment expected from a modern race car. An integrated air-jack system, racing suspension components, racing slicks, and competition brakes further reinforce its track-focused mission.

Yet the 911 Challenge remains remarkably approachable.
