Porsche Motorsport has revealed its plans for the 2026 season, with a revised focus on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Formula E.
The manufacturer will field a factory team and strong customer teams in the 2025-26 Formula E World Championship, while Porsche Penske Motorsport aims to continue its brilliant run in IMSA.
Unveiled at the traditional Night of Champions in Stuttgart on November 29, there are plenty of exciting new line-ups and the return of many fan favourites for the year ahead.
Flynt Schuring and Marcus Amand have been named the new Porsche Juniors, while Loek Hartog is the winner of the coveted Porsche Cup.
Speaking at the Night of Champions, Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport, said: “The 2025 motorsport year was once again an extremely successful one for Porsche. The titles in the Formula E World Championship and the IMSA series are impressive proof of this.
“Second place at Le Mans, just 14 seconds behind – that hurts, no doubt about it. The fact that we were also able to fight for the world championship in the WEC in the end was made possible by tremendous teamwork.
“We have achieved significant success in customer racing: another class victory at Le Mans, all GT titles in the WEC, DTM victory and only narrowly missed successes in the big 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Spa.
“Now we have repositioned ourselves and are starting afresh – in Formula E as early as next weekend, and at the end of January in Daytona. The 2026 season will be more exciting than almost any other before.”
Porsche Penske Motorsport fights for a third consecutive IMSA title
After winning all championship titles in both the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the Porsche Penske Motorsport works team will again be the team to beat next season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The team will field new line-ups in 2026: Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor will move across from the World Endurance Championship to take the wheel of the #6 car, while the #7 sister car will be shared by Felipe Nasr and Julien Andlauer.
At the endurance classics in Daytona and Sebring, as well as at the season finale Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, reigning IMSA champion Matt Campbell (#6) and Laurin Heinrich (#7) will join the action.
The US customer team JDC-Miller MotorSports will also be back on the grid in 2026 with a Porsche 963.
Formula E: World Championship battle ahead as preparations for the future continue
Another thrilling season of all-electric racing lies ahead in Season 12 of the Formula E World Championship.
Porsche enters the 2025-26 campaign as the reigning Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Champions, fielding Nico Müller and Pascal Wehrlein as the two factory drivers in Porsche’s seventh season in the championship.
In addition to the factory-run Porsche Formula E Team, the US customer outfit Andretti Formula E will compete with the highly efficient Porsche 99X Electric in the current GEN3 Evo version. Jake Dennis and Felipe Drugovich will race for Andretti.
Cupra Kiro will continue to participate as a second Porsche customer team, relying on 99X technology from the previous GEN3 generation. Pepe Martí and Dan Ticktum will race for the team.
This season, which begins on December 6 in São Paulo, is the last under the current rules: the third-generation cars are embarking on a farewell tour.
Testing has already begun on the new fourth-generation cars, as GEN4 promises the biggest performance increase in the history of Formula E to date.
Preparations for the introduction of the new cars in 2026/2027 are running parallel to the 16-race World Championship battle – a special challenge for Porsche’s Formula E project.
