Today marked the third Porsche GT Track Day held at Sonoma since 2024, further solidifying the circuit as a standout destination on the GT Track Day calendar.

The Porsche GT Track Day program continued its 2026 season with the second event of the year at the iconic Sonoma Raceway. Hosted by Porsche Motorsport North America, the day brought together more than 20 enthusiastic Porsche owners and their guests for a memorable on-track experience shaped by changing weather and the unmistakable challenge of one of North America's most technical circuits.

This event marked the third Porsche GT Track Day held at Sonoma since 2024, further solidifying the circuit as a standout destination on the GT Track Day calendar.

On-track experience at Sonoma Raceway.

Following overnight rain, participants began the day with slightly damp track conditions in the early morning before weather evolved throughout the sessions. As the day progressed, conditions transitioned from manageable moisture to very wet track surfaces, adding an extra layer of complexity to an already demanding circuit.

The evolving grip levels encouraged drivers to adapt their technique while exploring the performance capabilities of their Porsche road cars in a structured, professionally managed environment. Despite the challenging conditions, spirits remained high both on and off track. Drivers embraced the opportunity to learn in real-world scenarios, with lead-follow sessions and open lapping allowing time to build confidence across Sonoma Raceway’s elevation changes, blind crests, and technical corner sequences.

A full-circle moment at Sonoma.

The Sonoma event also featured a meaningful full-circle moment within the GT Track Day program. Just 11 months after attending his first GT Track Day at Burt Brothers Motorpark in Utah, former participant Justin Lewis returned to the program with a major milestone to celebrate. Earlier that day, Lewis captured his first-ever sports car race victory in Race 2 of Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West, claiming the win in the Cayman Masters class aboard his No. 75 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Following the race, Lewis joined Porsche Motorsport North America President and CEO Volker Holzmeyer as a keynote speaker for GT Track Day participants. Standing in front of the group, Lewis reflected on his own experience attending a GT Track Day less than a year earlier, when he listened to a similar Q&A session and absorbed insights from drivers and industry leaders. Now, in a role reversal, Lewis shared his personal journey into racing, offering perspective and encouragement to participants who found themselves in the same position he once occupied.

Porsche Marin brings the heat.

Porsche Marin, an indiGO Autogroup dealer, served as the event’s Porsche Center partner and played a key role in the overall experience. The team arrived with multiple vehicles on display in the paddock, highlighted by a stunning 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS that drew attention throughout the day.

In addition to the display presence, Porsche Marin supplied one of the lead-follow cars used during on-track sessions. The vehicle was driven by Patrick Stam, who helped guide participants through Sonoma’s demanding layout while reinforcing best practices for safety, consistency, and pace under variable conditions.

Hot laps cap off a memorable day at Sonoma.

The day concluded with one of the highlights of the Porsche GT Track Day experience, hot lap rides in Porsche’s current one-make competition race cars. Despite fully wet and worsening track conditions, participants had the opportunity to experience Sonoma Raceway from the passenger seat as professional drivers demonstrated precision and control in demanding circumstances.

Exhilarating laps were delivered in the Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2), driven by Carrera Cup North America front-runner Aaron Jeansonne, as well as the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992.1) piloted by Porsche Sprint Challenge North America young star Riley Giacomazzi. With standing water and limited grip across the circuit, the sessions offered a compelling demonstration of car control & the performance capability of Porsche’s customer racing machinery, providing a memorable and fitting conclusion to the day.

2026 gains momentum with COTA up next.

With Sonoma Raceway now complete, the 2026 GT Track Day season continues to build momentum. The Sonoma event served as an important benchmark for participants, offering experience that will translate directly to upcoming venues with very different characteristics.

The next Porsche GT Track Day takes place in just under a month at Circuit of the Americas, scheduled over Mother’s Day weekend. Drivers can look forward to another world-class facility and a distinct driving challenge as the program heads to Texas for the first time. The remaining 2026 Porsche GT Track Day events include:

  • Circuit of the Americas – May 9, Austin, Texas

  • Road Atlanta – September 12, Braselton, Georgia
