The #24 BMW, which is the only car still in contention for the championship, finished qualifying in ninth place.

Porsche also leads the manufacturers' standings ahead of the last of 11 races and has a two-point advantage over second-placed Acura.

Campbell was fastest at the start of the 15-minute session with a 1m 14.071s and improved by a second on his next run before taking the lead with a 1m 11.016s.

The car with starting number 7 and Nasr at the wheel set the fourth-fastest time eight minutes before the end with a best time of 1m 16.039s.

At the start of the final phase, both Porsche 963s were close together, with just 0.005 seconds separating the two cars, with the number 6 car in front.

By the checkered flag, the number 7 car had improved to fourth place again, while the number 6 car was sixth.
