  • Milan Marczak claims his first overall victory, Jaap van Lagen wins in front of his home crowd and heads to Imola as championship leader

  • David Dziwok and Joep Breedveld shine among the Rookies during a strong weekend at the North Sea

Circuit Zandvoort, May 25, 2026. Once again, motorsport came out on top, because after a magnificent opening weekend of the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux at Spa-Francorchamps, the Round by the Dutch North Sea coast in Zandvoort was also a major success. Wonderful weather, large crowds, great racing… the perfect cocktail to enjoy motorsport. Milan Marczak (Ajith - RedAnt Racing) claimed his first overall victory in Saturday’s race, while reigning champion Jaap van Lagen (Team RaceArt) uncorked the champagne in front of his home fans on Sunday. Van Lagen heads to the next round, at the magnificent Imola circuit in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, on July 4 and 5 as championship leader.

After Spa-Francorchamps and the FIA WEC, it was now up to Circuit Zandvoort and the DTM to host the fastest one-make series in the Benelux. Following two free practice sessions on Friday, it was time for the battle against the clock on Saturday morning. Jaap van Lagen delivered brilliantly, securing pole position for both races. Joep Breedveld (Team RaceArt) was the best rookie in qualifying.

Jaap van Lagen: “That is truly fantastic, in front of my home crowd, and with a lap time faster than the pole position of our colleagues in the German Carrera Cup. This is really something special.”

Race 1: Marczak delivers a first

The 2025 champion converted his pole position into the lead at the start of the first race, but a technical issue just over ten minutes into the thirty-minute contest forced him to quickly switch the car off and back on again. That was all Milan Marczak needed to take victory. The 2025 rookie champion was thus able to step onto the top step of the overall podium for the very first time.

Behind Marczak, van Lagen salvaged second place and the twenty points that came with it, ahead of Tio Ellinas (Quanloop EST1 Racing), Frank Porté Ruiz (NGT Racing), Hjelte Hoffner (MDM Motorsport) and the initial championship leader, Alexander Reimann (Quanloop EST1 Racing).

Milan Marczak: “Of course, I was able to take advantage of Jaap’s brief issue to move into first place, but after that I was able to maintain a very consistent pace and keep the gap under control. I’m extremely happy with this first victory and would like to thank everyone who made it possible.”

In the rookie category, victory went to David Dziwok (Team GP Elite) after a fantastic battle, ahead of Joep Breedveld and Joep Muller (PG Motorsport), with the latter earning a huge boost after the cruel bad luck he suffered at Spa. Arthur Peters (Team RaceArt) and Jesse Polderdijk (Ajith - RedAnt Racing) completed the top five.

Race 2: van Lagen from start to finish

On Sunday, the weather was perhaps even more glorious, and home driver van Lagen needed little more to lead from start to finish. The sporting battle mainly unfolded behind him, producing perhaps the move of the weekend. Milan Marczak overtook Alexander Reimann around the outside of the Hugenholtz corner, on the banking and in spectacular fashion, securing second place ahead of Reimann. Fourth place once again went to Frank Porté Ruiz, followed closely by Hjelte Hoffner. In the overall standings, van Lagen moves into the championship lead ahead of Reimann and Marczak.

Among the rookies, Joep Breedveld completed Team RaceArt’s celebrations with his first victory in the category. He finished ahead of Joep Muller and David Dziwok. Arthur Peters claimed fourth place for the third race in a row, while Henry Wheeler (A-workx by KATANA Tools) rounded out the top five.

Jani Käkelä took victory twice in PRO-AM, but the Finn also held his own impressively among the pack of young wolves.

Olivier Aerts (Series Manager Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux): “We can once again look back on a very successful weekend, with not only a strong performance from Jaap but also a victory for our 2025 rookie champion, while last season’s rookie runner-up also fought at the front. This proves that our work with the Talent Pool is truly paying off and that young talents in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux can genuinely build a strong career path. The 2026 rookie class also looks extremely strong once again!”

The next Round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux is at Imola on July 3, 4 and 5.
