  • After Spa-Francorchamps and Zandvoort, Italy's Imola provides the setting for a crucial third meeting in the battle for the championship titles.

  • As part of the support programme for the European Le Mans Series, two races are scheduled, with the championship standings beginning to take shape.

Zonhoven, 2 July 2026. Just as in 2024, the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux travels to the beautiful region around Bologna for its third meeting of the season, with the iconic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola as its destination. The fastest one-make series in the Benelux will race as part of the support programme for the prestigious European Le Mans Series, with one race on Saturday and another on Sunday. Meanwhile, the battle for the titles is intensifying, promising yet another weekend of top-class motorsport.

The third meeting of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux brings teams and drivers to a region where motorsport is deeply embedded in its DNA. The undulating Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is one of Europe's true motorsport classics and breathes history. The circuit is renowned worldwide, not only for its rich sporting heritage but also for the tragic events surrounding Ayrton Senna during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Championship battle begins to take shape

The weekend at Imola marks the start of the second phase of the 2026 season. Following the opening two meetings at Spa-Francorchamps and Zandvoort, the first clear championship contenders have emerged. The title favourites have made their intentions known, while several rivals will need a strong result in Italy to remain within striking distance of the leaders.

In the overall standings, defending champion Jaap van Lagen (Team RaceArt) leads the championship with 86 points after four races. The Dutchman has claimed three second-place finishes and one victory, giving him a ten-point advantage over Alexander Reimann (Quanloop EST1 Racing), who has also secured two race wins this season. In third place is 2025 Rookie Champion Milan Marczak (Ajith-RedAnt Racing) with 65 points.

The success of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux rookie programme is further underlined by the fourth-place ranking of Frank Porté Ruiz (NGT Racing), runner-up in the 2025 Rookie classification. With 55 points, he remains firmly in contention for the overall title. Behind the top four sits a highly competitive group of drivers who will undoubtedly be aiming to play a significant role throughout the remainder of the season.

The Rookie classification is equally competitive. David Dziwok (Team GP Elite) leads the standings with 82 points, ahead of Joep Breedveld (Team RaceArt) on 77 points. Henry Wheeler ([a-workx] by KATANA Tools), winner of the season opener at Spa-Francorchamps, occupies third place with 62 points, three ahead of Arthur Peters (Team RaceArt). Dino van der Geest (Team GP Elite) completes the top five with 40 points.

Battles on every front

In the PRO-AM category, Jani Käkelä (39 Racing) is currently setting the benchmark, while the Teams' Championship features a fascinating duel between Quanloop EST1 Racing (125 points) and Team RaceArt (110 points).

The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux weekend at Imola gets underway on Friday, 3 July, with the opening free practice session at 09:55, giving teams forty minutes to fine-tune the setup of their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. A second free practice session follows at 14:00.

Qualifying for both races is scheduled for Saturday morning at 09:00. Race 1 gets underway on Saturday at 14:00, while Race 2 will be held on Sunday at 09:45. Both races are 30 minutes plus one lap in duration.

As always, both races will be streamed live on the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux YouTube channel.
