Porsche Penske Motorsport has revealed its new driver line-ups for the 2025 season, with changes in both the World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Former Porsche Junior Julien Andlauer will join the WEC squad from Proton Competition, where he gained experience in the Porsche 963 with stunning performances throughout the season, including his standout drive at Spa-Francorchamps.
Meanwhile, the team will bid a fond farewell to three-time Le Mans winner André Lotterer and reigning IMSA champion Dane Cameron, whose contracts expire at the end of the year, and Frédéric Makowiecki, who leaves by mutual agreement after 11 years with the team.
Two drivers will regularly pilot each car in the FIA World Endurance Championship, with Andlauer joining Michael Christensen in the #5 Porsche 963. The #6 sister car will be helmed predominantly by Laurens Vanthoor and Kévin Estre. A third driver will be called on for each car for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the season's highlight races, with the #5 cockpit earmarked for Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell driving the #6 car.
After strong performances this season, the team heads into the final round in Bahrain leading both the drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships. The #6 car tops the drivers’ standings by 35 points, while Porsche leads the manufacturers’ standings by 10 points from Toyota.
Across the pond, Jaminet and Campbell will share the #6 car, while reigning champion Felipe Nasr will team up with Nick Tandy in the sister #7 car. Estre and Vanthoor will support the IMSA crews at select Endurance Cup races.
“We put much thought into our squad for next season’s international racing campaign. With the new lineup, I believe we’ve put together a winning combination for 2025," explains Urs Kuratle, Director Factory Motorsport LMDh.
“We’ll have two very experienced drivers in both series, plus two drivers in sister cars, all of whom have come up through the ranks of Porsche’s junior programme and completely won us over as talented youngsters. I’d also like to thank Dane Cameron, André Lotterer and Frédéric Makowiecki. All three have contributed to getting the Porsche Penske Motorsport campaign to where it now stands in global endurance racing: at the top.”
“Porsche Penske Motorsport has enjoyed successful campaigns in both the IMSA and WEC seasons in 2024. We won the 24 Hours of Daytona, scooped the title pool in the IMSA championship and now head to Bahrain leading the drivers’ and manufacturers’ standings,” says Jonathan Diuguid.
The Porsche Penske Motorsport Managing Director adds: “Our success is also largely due to the strong performances of our driver pairings. For 2024, we relied on consistency and continuity and made only a few targeted tweaks to the squad. This decision proved to be right. Spurred by these successes, we’ll take a similar approach for 2025. The IMSA and WEC race calendars allow us to mobilise the driver pairings even more often. The door has opened for involvement in both series.”
The inclusion of Andlauer in the works driver squad demonstrates the commitment of Porsche to nurturing young talent.
After winning the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2017, Andlauer became a Porsche Junior for the 2018 season.
In addition to his involvement in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, in which he achieved fourth place with two victories, Andlauer celebrated his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a class victory at the wheel of the Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR.
He went on to impress in Porsche GT cars for customer teams before making the leap into the FIA WEC hypercar class for this year's season.
Lotterer joined the team in 2017 in the former LMP1 class of the FIA WEC.
This was followed by successful outings in Formula E, and in the debut year of the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, he finished second in the very first race.
He has been part of the Porsche Penske Motorsport line-up since 2023, and in March, was part of the driver line-up to take the Porsche 963's first victory in the World Endurance Championship.
Cameron joined Porsche in 2022 as an experienced prototype driver in the IMSA series, and played a significant role in the rapid and consistent development of the Porsche 963. He recently won the 2024 championship alongside Nasr.
Makowiecki has been racing for Porsche since 2014, taking four class victories at the wheel of the Porsche 911 RSR in the FIA WEC - including a triumph at the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro class.
He departs the team on mutual terms after two seasons with the 963 hybrid prototype in the World Endurance Championship.
