A year on from winning the Rookie title, Flynt Schuring claimed the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in front of his home crowd at Zandvoort - a “dream scenario” for the Porsche Junior.

After starting the season strong in Monaco with a fifth-place finish, the Dutch driver went on a brilliant run of form, claiming victory at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before a runner-up finish at the Red Bull Ring.
He was back on the top step of the podium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, after which he held a 20-point championship lead and knew it was “mine to lose.”
“Once you're in front, you're in front, so you need to keep that margin,” he added.
The Spa race was followed up with a difficult outing at the Hungaroring in which Schuring did not finish the race, but he knew he was still in the championship fight with three rounds to go.
Though he said his feelings were “quite mixed” heading into the penultimate race weekend after a difficult round of Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at the Nürburgring “where I was not at my best”, Schuring mentally regrouped for his home race at Zandvoort.
He said: “We worked really hard for a turnaround. And then I feel like from lap one in practice, I was really on it. So I was feeling good in the car, feeling good with the team, also having fun in the weekend.
“Of course, you feel pressure, but there are different kinds of pressure. So sometimes you just feel pressure to perform, sometimes you feel it really from yourself or from the outside. But I felt good in the moment, and that really helped also, so a good environment as well.”
With a positive mindset and a roaring crowd, Schuring bounced back to round off the season with a second place finish and a win on home turf - a special double-header for the One-Make Series.
Schuring says it was “a dream scenario” to claim the title in front of a Dutch crowd, and with his family present.
“I’m pretty lost for words still, to be honest,” he said, less than a week after claiming the title. “It was a dream scenario, winning it in Zandvoort, at my home track, with one round to spare, and then to do it while winning the race and having my family there… I still can't really believe it happened. It's still a very special feeling.
“The goal is to win the championship, it's a short season, but it's very intense, so you need to perform round after round. We had quite a good run up until Budapest, then quite a difficult one, actually.
“Coming into the weekend, I had a three-place grid penalty for the first race and the expectation was damage limitation from that. So then to only extend the championship lead was something I'm super proud of.
“To win at Zandvoort is something I really dreamt of and I really pushed for as well. I think it's the last time we'll race there with Supercup, and then to also take the championship, this chance is near zero.
“So to do that, and with my family there who also sacrificed so much, and to have this moment with them, when I go back to it, it gives me goosebumps.”
Schuring’s success came in his first year in the Porsche Junior programme, having prevailed in a shootout involving twelve talented young drivers late last year.
His nomination came after he finished third - and top rookie - in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2025, scoring three podiums. He also won three races and took five podiums in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany to finish fourth in the standings.
Schuring says the coaching he received as part of the programme “really helped me.”
He added: “It also put me in a good environment, helping me be with the team, and everything around it. Also the mental side of it was really fundamental to the performance. This is also a bit of an extra pressure which goes along with it.
“If you're a Porsche Junior, there are a few more eyes on you. You're expected to be one of the best out there, so you have to deliver and to do that week after week is not easy.
“But it’s very nice looking back now to see we've won quite a bit and always been up there.”
While Schuring has already claimed the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup title, there are still two races to go in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
He currently sits second in the championship, just seven points behind leader Keagan Masters, and said it’s “all to play for.”
Schuring added: “I really want to win that one as well, and I think also the way we won Supercup by consistent good results and just performing in qualifying will work there as well, so going into that confidently.”
The final round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland takes place in support of the DTM at Hockenheim on October 10-11.
The last race of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season will take place at Monza supporting the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Over the weekend of September 4-6, the Supercup’s Rookie and Teams’ championships will be decided.
