Season 2025

Frenchman Mathys Jaubert (Martinet by Alméras) claimed his first victory in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at the Hungaroring near Budapest. Delivering a flawless performance, the 20-year-old crossed the line ahead of Dutchman Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT), who was once again the fastest rookie. Third place went to Israeli driver Ariel Levi of Team GP Elite. The title fight is revving up: Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti, Robert de Haan and Flynt Schuring are now separated by a mere six points. Meanwhile, the second Porsche Junior, Theo Oeverhaus, suffered another unfortunate setback.

The sixth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup proved once again that the winding Hungaroring circuit is never short of thrills. With only limited overtaking possibilities on the 4.3 km circuit on the outskirts of Budapest, the drivers of the 375 kW (510 PS) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup threw themselves wholeheartedly into the race, sometimes a little too enthusiastically.

Two incidents on the first lap resulted in the elimination of four cars. Firstly, the two Target 911s driven by Alexander Tauscher and Janne Stiak collided with Jaap van Lagen's car at Turn 5. Then, at the exit of the chicane, Wouter Boerekamps, who had qualified in fourth position, spun after contact with a rival. The safety car was deployed for a total of six laps.

When the race resumed on the seventh lap, fans in the grandstands and television viewers were treated to a show of strength from pole-sitter Mathys Jaubert. The 20-year-old Frenchman defended his lead right up to the chequered flag, taking his first victory in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. It was also the first Supercup victory for his team, Martinet by Alméras, since current Porsche DTM driver Ayhancan Güven triumphed at Monza in 2021.

Flynt Schuring carries the rookie flag - and he carries it high!

Schumacher CLRT driver Schuring followed Jaubert like a shadow, but never had the chance to launch an attack. "I got off to a good start and briefly found myself alongside Mathys. Unfortunately, the safety car then put the kibosh on things. After the restart, I managed to stay on Jaubert, but I couldn't make a move, even though I closed the gap slightly towards the end of the race. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with this podium and these important points," explains the 18-year-old Dutchman, who has further strengthened his lead in the rookie standings and now seems unstoppable in his race for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup junior driver title. Ariel Levi (Team GP Elite) also put in a fine performance, finishing third ahead of team-mate Kas Haverkort.

In the battle for the overall classification, the top three came close together. Robert de Haan (BWT Lechner Racing) and Alessandro Ghiretti (Schumacher CLRT), who each have two wins this season, crossed the finish line in fifth and sixth positions respectively, and are now separated by just four points in the championship. "It was a difficult race. After the start, I found myself in the pack and lost a few positions. I then tried to fight my way back to the front, which is very difficult on this circuit. The fastest lap of the race shows that I had the pace to be at the front, so I'm not entirely satisfied with the result," admitted championship leader Ghiretti.

De Haan, who is second overall, expressed his frustration at the driving style of some of his rivals: "I found some contact unnecessary. I tried to stay calm and concentrate on my own race. Overall, I managed the race well and scored some important points. I narrowed the gap with Alessandro in the standings. The duel for the title is looking more and more like a three-way battle. With his second place in a row, Flynt Schuring is now just six points behind overall leader Ghiretti. Meanwhile, the second Porsche Junior was again the victim of a brutal manoeuvre. In the chaos that followed the restart, Theo Oeverhaus was hit by Frenchman Marvin Klein. The German driver from Proton Huber Competition crossed the finish line in 14th position. The winner of the first race at Imola dropped from sixth to eighth place in the standings.

A short summer break - then the dunes of Zandvoort

Wind, sand and unpredictable weather were the order of the day for the seventh round on the North Sea coast. Add to that Zandvoort's banked corners and the roar of the orange army, and you're guaranteed another weekend full of action and surprises.
