NGT Racing secures its fourth victory with a line-up including FIA WEC world champion Laurens Vanthoor, Bertrand Baguette, Glenn Van Parijs, Jonny Edgar and Tom Van Rompuy
Top six finish for the German sports car manufacturer in a fiercely contested race
Zolder Circuit, 30 August 2026. With its 22nd victory, Porsche has cemented its leading position on the roll of honour for this Belgian endurance classic. Following victories in 2008, 2023 and 2024, NGT Racing has now also won the 2026 edition with Porsche, fielding a line-up that certainly captures the imagination: 2024 FIA WEC world champion Laurens Vanthoor, Super GT champion Bertrand Baguette, Porsche Cup specialist Glenn Van Parijs, Briton Jonny Edgar and FIA WEC driver Tom Van Rompuy. The curtain falls on the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux on 17 and 18 October during the final round at Circuit Zolder.
The battle for pole position at the 24 Hours of Zolder was already decided on Thursday evening, with Luxembourg’s Dylan Pereira securing the Ajith – Redant Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 – in first place on the grid, with a string of similar Porsches in its wake. Saturday’s start was particularly intense, with the weather gods providing a succession of dry spells and rain, which made the race all the more difficult. After Ajith – Redant Racing dropped out of the race, the battle raged for more than twenty hours between the #92 NGT Racing, the #2 ART Racing and the #99 Belgium Racing Team, with the gap between them remaining a matter of seconds for a very long time. The battle for victory in the 48th edition of the 24 Hours of Zolder remained undecided for an exceptionally long time, with NGT Racing ultimately coming out on top.
Marc Maton’s team secured victory with a one-lap lead over the young guns of ART Racing: Lorenzo Donniacuo, Benjamin Paque, Kaï Rillaerts and Enzo Joulié, alongside veteran Christoff Corten. Third place went to the #99 Belgium Racing Team of Dylan Derdaele, Nicolas Saelens, Paul Meijer, Xavier Maassen and Niels Lagrange. Porsche also took fourth, fifth and sixth places with the #15 and #27 cars from NGT Racing and the #98 from Belgium Racing in a very fast and tight race, which did, however, end under red flags due to a racing incident.
Winning in front of a home crowd is wonderful
“It’s a wonderful victory, the second on my list of achievements at Circuit Zolder,” said Laurens Vanthoor, who won the FIA WEC world title in 2024 whilst racing for Penske Porsche Motorsport.“I was able to count on an exceptionally good team, a fantastic car that didn’t falter for a moment, and four brilliant team-mates. We certainly didn’t steal this victory, and it gives me immense pleasure to be able to win once again in front of my home crowd. I race very rarely in Belgium – Vanthoor competes for Penske Porsche Motorsport in the American IMSA series – so to be able to secure a victory like this is, of course, a real joy.”
In the GT Sport class, Dirk Van Rompuy, alongside the VR Racing by NGT Racing team, took second place in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport – in what was his fortieth appearance at the Limburg classic. The Antwerp native shared the car with Mauro Polderman, Nicolas Guelinckx, Erik Qvick and Belle Rappange. Q1 Trackracing finished fifth in the class, in an identical car.
In the provisional standings of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux, Paul Meijer, Dylan Derdaele and Nicolas Saelens are now certain to clinch the title. The trio secured third place at Zolder, alongside Niels Lagrange and Xavier Maassen, having previously won the first three races of the season.
The final round of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux takes place on 17 and 18 October at Circuit Zolder.
