Porsche power was victorious in the Jakarta round of the Formula E World Championship, with Cupra Kiro driver Dan Ticktum clinching a first series victory.
Ticktum led a 1-3-4 for the Porsche 99X Electric, as Nico Müller also scooped his first podium for the Andretti team and TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team's António Félix da Costa came home in fourth.
The story of the race
Track position was always likely to be key in the 38-lap race as a particularly dusty outside line meant overtaking opportunities were at a premium.
Ticktum made the most of his fifth-place starting position on the grippier racing line to move up a place at the start.
He held position, in sight of the leading pack that was headed by fellow Porsche customer driver Jake Dennis, throughout the first phase of the race. During the first round of attack mode activations, he was shuffled back to sixth.
But Ticktum had cycled his way back up to fourth by the time of the race's major flashpoint, as Dennis was hit by Nyck de Vries while the pair fought for the lead.
Having taken his first attack mode activation at the same time as De Vries but deviated on their usage, Dennis found himself defending from the Mahindra driver once his initial two-minute allocation was up.
He successfully rebuffed one attack down the main straight by preventing De Vries from taking the inside line, but the following lap De Vries was able to get a run on Dennis on the approach to the first corner - only to chop across the front wing of the Andretti-Porsche before he had his car fully ahead.
Dennis was able to continue and, with the safety car deployed as a result and De Vries subsequently handed a 10-second penalty for causing that collision, he should have been in position to be part of a Porsche-powered 1-2 at the head of the field.
But having slotted in behind Ticktum after taking attack mode for the second time, and primed with more of it to use than his Kiro rival on a later full course yellow restart, Dennis lost speed suddenly and dropped out of the running.
That left Ticktum in a straight fight for victory at the front with the second Mahindra of Edoardo Mortara, who he defeated - after a second full course yellow - to clinch top honours for the first time in his 60-race Formula E career.
It also marked the Cupra Kiro team's first victory as a Porsche customer, and its first in Formula E for a decade.
There was further Porsche representation on the podium, too, with Porsche driver Mueller taking his first podium with Andretti - his second overall in Formula E - making up 10 places after a measured drive through the late-race chaos.
From ninth on the grid, da Costa brought home important points for both himself and the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team by finishing fourth.
His haul helped increase the squad's buffer at the head of the Teams' Championship to 12 points over nearest rival Nissan, while in the Constructors' Championship Porsche is now just four points from the summit.
Da Costa also solidified his third place in the Drivers' Championship and sits just three points behind team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, who was just outside the points in 11th.
Having started 17th, reigning Formula E Champion Wehrlein used an aggressive attack mode strategy early on to rise into points contention but ultimately fell just short of a spot in the top 10.
Customer racing
After slowing from the lead fight, Dennis was able to get going again and eventually crossed the line in 17th - the three points he added to his tally for pole position offering scant reward for a well-executed weekend.
Ticktum's Kiro team-mate David Beckmann had an eventful race, ultimately finishing where he started in 15th.
Coming next
The Jakarta round concluded the Asian leg of the 2024-25 Formula E calendar as Porsche, Andretti and Kiro now prepare for the penultimate weekend of the season at the Berlin Tempelhof circuit in three weeks' team on July 12-13.
