From the pitch to the paddock! The former Footballstar Sergio Agüero is making his exclusive Formula E debut. Trained by world champion Pascal Wehrlein and part of an epic Miami event with top celebs, his journey to becoming Raceborn has only just begun.
The Formula E EVO Sessions
For the first time ever, Formula E is inviting 11 of the world’s most-followed personalities to do the unthinkable - get behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo, the world’s fastest electric race car, and experience the adrenaline-pumping pinnacle of motorsport from the driver’s seat.
Among the elite is former Manchester City superstar and all-time leading scorer, Sergio Agüero. Retired but far from resigned, the Argentine legend is swapping the pitch for the paddock, determined to go from world-class baller to motorsport star. With the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team guiding his every turn, he’ll push the limits and conquer a whole new arena. Follow his electrifying journey to becoming Raceborn, leading up to the Formula E Evo Sessions on March 5th and 6th on the @porsche.motorsport Instagram account.
The Kickoff
Sergio Agüero may know racing, but the Porsche 99X Electric is a whole different beast. Over the next few weeks, he’ll train with the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, gaining exclusive access to the Porsche Development Center in Weissach — and working alongside some of Porsche’s top Works Drivers.
He’s already completed an intense (but fun) sim-coaching session with Esports Porsche Works Driver Charlie Collins, soaking up every tip and trick. Thanks to his own racing rig at home, Sergio improved fast under Charlie’s guidance.
Next came a special, behind-the-scenes tour at the Porsche Museum’s warehouse that houses some of the greatest motorsport icons in Porsche’s storied history. Current Formula E World Champion Pascal Wehrlein accompanied Sergio on this journey, and the two connected over their shared passion for speed. Pascal will be trackside with Sergio during the Evo Sessions, joined by race engineer Fabrice Roussel, to help guide him every step of the way to be able to drive a real race car.
Learning from the best
Sergio’s Raceborn journey intensified at Weissach, where he did a final training with Pascal Wehrlein and the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. The day started with hot laps in the Taycan Turbo GT, with Pascal taking him on a fun ride before Sergio hopped in the driver’s seat. His reaction? Pure adrenaline… and maybe a little surprise. For the final preparation, he did a professional simulator training. After a quick theory session, Sergio stepped into the static and then in the full-motion sim, getting a feel for the Porsche 99X Electric. It was a day of serious training, big learning curves, and plenty of laughs — one step closer to becoming Raceborn.
The Road to Raceborn
With Weissach behind him, Sergio was fully immersed in Porsche Motorsport. Every session led to his biggest challenge yet: the Formula E Evo Sessions in Miami.
The Finish Line
The final event week began with a reunion with the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, a track walk to familiarize himself with the circuit, and a first sit in in Pascal Wehrlein's Porsche 99X Electric. By Wednesday, it was time to get the car on track. Pascal Wehrlein set the benchmark lap, warming up the tyres before handing things over to Sergio. Driving the number 10 car, a nod to his legendary football career, Sergio took on his first 20-minute Evo Session, adapting quickly to the demands of Formula E driving. After each session, he sat down with the Porsche engineers for detailed coaching and analysis, fine-tuning his technique before heading back out for the second Evo Session on Thursday.
And he wasn’t just quick, he was faster than expected. At one point, Pascal even had to tell him to slow down! Between high-energy sessions, a few cheeky moments, and serious focus, Sergio proved he wasn’t just here for the experience—he was here to push himself. His Raceborn journey had reached its biggest moment yet.
From Weissach to Miami, Sergio Agüero’s journey with Porsche Motorsport was all about pushing limits. From his first laps in the Taycan Turbo GT to his final session in the Porsche 99X Electric, each step brought him closer to mastering a completely new sport.
This showdown set the path for the Miami E-Prix of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship on April 12. Stay tuned for all the action on our social channels: @porsche.motorsport
