Giving an unparalleled view into the items, stories, and people that have powered Porsche through the decades, the new Artifacts: Porsche Motorsport book is a must-have for fans of the brand.

Enter the vault and look deep into the history of Porsche Motorsport with the new Type 7 presents Artifacts: Porsche Motorsport book: A multilayered experience exploring countless items from Porsche Motorsport’s history, both large and small, in fine detail.

Marking the second edition of the Artifacts series and produced in association with Porsche Motorsport, the new large-format coffee table book spans across 550 pages and over 250 items.

Curated, researched, and photographed within the secretive sites of Porsche, at facilities in Flacht – the birthplace of Porsche’s Motorsport program – Weissach, and in restricted storage facilities, the collection of items provide an eclectic and wide-ranging view of the iconic marque’s activities in top-flight racing as well as elements of racing by private customers.

To create this unique retelling, the team delved into the Porsche Corporate Archive, offering deep storytelling behind each item captured. The integrated company archive features two kilometres’ worth of of files and 2.5 million photos are stored there. The Porsche Museum and its wealth of knowledge was also a key resource, with its immersive collection bringing to life decades of history.

Explore the brand’s history not just via its cars, but via its stories, as a series of interviews showcase decades of success.

Roger Penske, the legendary team operator known as The Captain, provides an insight into the history of Penske Motorsport’s collaboration with Porsche from the early days of its success in Can-Am to its modern partnership campaigning the Porsche 963 LMDh in global endurance racing.

More recently, Porsche factory drivers Richard Lietz and Formula E’s Pascal Wehrlein explore their history, drive for performance, and the talent required to deliver success for a historic automotive company.

Setting the scene, Ferdinand Porsche, the grandson of company founder Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche, provides a personal foreword sharing his fascination with the company’s racing cars from an early age.

Within Artifacts: Porsche Motorsport, technical elements from motorsport collide with a striking design created in collaboration with Andy Cruz of House Industries to create a tactile experience, with custom fonts referencing vintage Porsche design elements and matrix-dot printing techniques used on 1980s telemetry machines.

Each item is beautifully presented, with dramatic lighting and high-resolution photography showcasing the Raceborn textures, patina, and innovative thinking central to Porsche and its storied history.

Set within a patterned slipcase featuring the brand’s trademark colour scheme, there are nods to Porsche designs across the decades throughout: From the red, embossed cover, referencing the archival folders used to catalogue parts for Porsche racing cars in the 1960s, to a race-inspired belt and buckle clip securing it closed.

The project was spearheaded and produced by ERG Media, the team behind the daily digital magazine Type 7, powered by Porsche..

Artifacts: Porsche Motorsport will be available from the Type 7 shop from November 20.
