Porsche is gunning for its 20th overall 24 Hours of Daytona victory at the opening IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round this month.
As a huge milestone awaits, the Porsche Penske Motorsport team gears up for the first challenge of 2025 at the iconic Daytona International Speedway on the Florida coast.
Having won the 2024 edition of one of the world’s most famous endurance races on its way to taking a clean sweep of titles last season, the team will be back for more thrilling action in 2025.
Last year, the team took a 1-2 in the GTP drivers’ and teams’ championships, and only one race in nine did not feature a podium finish for the Porsche 963.
The 2025 edition of the race will feature two stellar line-ups, with the Porsche factory driver roster having undergone several changes for the new year.
The #6 car will be shared by full-time drivers Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet, with World Endurance Championship star Kévin Estre supporting the pair.
Reigning IMSA champion Felipe Nasr will team up with Nick Tandy in the sister #7 car, with the duo joined by Laurens Vanthoor at the Endurance Cup races at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta.
The 63rd Rolex 24 at Daytona will get underway at 1:40pm local time / 7:40pm CET on January 25.
Campbell returns to IMSA off the back of a successful WEC campaign, helping the #5 car to four podiums and a fifth-place finish in the drivers’ standings.
The Australian was part of last year’s Daytona-winning line-up, and took a GTD Pro class victory in 2022 with Pfaff Motorsports alongside Jaminet, with whom he has been reunited for 2025, and Nasr. He was also on the GTLM podium in 2020, finishing third with the Porsche GT Team.
Campbell raced in the WEC for 2024 but still made three IMSA appearances at Daytona, Sebring and Petit Le Mans, finishing on the podium at all three races.
Jaminet continues his IMSA tenure with the team, having finished second in the drivers’ standings in 2024 with Tandy. The pair took five podiums and helped Porsche to the manufacturers’ title.
He joined the Porsche Penske Motorsport GTP line-up in 2023, finishing fourth overall, with two wins including the Porsche 963’s first victory, in the Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Estre will assist the pair at the Endurance Cup races at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta.
The Frenchman remains in the WEC for 2025 after taking the Porsche 963 to championship victory last season with team-mates André Lotterer and Vanthoor.
Reigning IMSA champion Nasr has a new team-mate for 2025 in the shape of Nick Tandy.
The Brazilian former Formula 1 driver charged to the title in 2024 alongside Dane Cameron, with the pair taking two wins and five additional podiums on their way to victory.
Nasr joined the Porsche GTP effort in 2023, finishing fifth in the first season, and previously took two overall titles with Cadillac.
Tandy was Jaminet’s team-mate for the past two years, and has extensive experience in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, having finished second in class in 2019 and 2021.
His endurance racing career spans over 10 years and includes an overall victory at both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Petit Le Mans in 2015.
Vanthoor, who will join the pair at the Endurance Cup rounds, also remains in the WEC for 2025 after claiming the 2024 drivers’ championship.
He finished fourth at last year’s 24 Hours of Daytona and has previously scored three class podiums at the iconic race. Vanthoor took class victory in the overall IMSA championship in 2019 and 2021.
Both the 2025 TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team drivers will make appearances at this year’s edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Reigning 2023-24 champion Pascal Wehrlein will make his IMSA debut at the wheel of the Porsche 963 from JDC-Miller MotorSports, while António Félix da Costa will drive an Oreca-Gibson from Inter Europol Competition in the LMP2 class.
Wehrlein will share the #85 with Tijmen van der Helm and Bryce Aron, having tested the car in November.

The Portuguese driver scored a fantastic second-place finish, kicking off 2025’s racing action with a bang, with Wehrlein in third having also taken pole position in an all-Porsche 99X Electric front row.
“I've always wanted to drive sports cars – that's one of my goals as a racing driver,” Wehrlein said.
“Now I have the opportunity to prove myself there too. I'm very happy about that! The test drives with JDC-Miller MotorSports in mid-November went well.
“The Porsche 963 reminded me of the DTM cars of my time – I felt comfortable."
Da Costa has competed in the LMP2 class before, including three times with Team Jota at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Iron Dames are back in 2025, making their return to the Porsche family as part of a new collaboration to promote women in motorsport.
The team will compete in the FIA WEC’s LMGT3 class, operated by Manthey Racing, with Proton Competition running operations in IMSA, and both the Asian and European Le Mans Series.
The alliance between Porsche Motorsport and the Iron Dames is set to continue for several years, with plans in the pipeline for the project to be closely linked to the Porsche junior development pyramid.
The aim is to link the national support programs in the Porsche one-make cups, the central Junior programme of Porsche Motorsport and the recently introduced Iron Dames Young Talents initiative.
It is not the all-female team’s first outing with Porsche. In 2023, Michelle Gatting, Rahel Frey and Sarah Bovy became the first female trio to clinch a class win in the WEC at the wheel of the Porsche 911 RSR.
