Introduction

Road Log - Porsche One-Make Series: From North America to Asia over Europe, the Middle East and South America all the way to Australia and New Zealand the world of Porsche One-Make Series has a lot to offer. Over the next few months, the various series will be introduced in groups of 3-4 in a monthly article to give fans more insight and a better understanding of the Porsche racing world.

Conquere the Nordschleife – With the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring

When it comes to competitive motorsport on the toughest and most famous racetrack in the world – the Nordschleife – there is no way around the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN). The PETN is a national Porsche One-Make Series held within the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS, former VLN) and offers both established teams and newcomers the opportunity to enjoy a thrilling and successful racing season as the only Porsche One-Make Series on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

The championship looks back on almost 10 years of history: In 2016, Manthey introduced the ‘Cayman GT4 Trophy by Manthey Racing’ as a fair competition for the first generation of Porsche GT4 racecars, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport (981). In 2019 the successor generation 718 was introduced to the Trophy expanding the highly competitive field with an average of 17 starters. In Cup 3 class among the overall field of well over 100 cars until 2022 a whole new class (Cup 2) was added with the establishment of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992). Since this year the series is a Porsche One-Make Series with Manthey as the organizer, ensuring the framework set by Porsche Motorsport with technical as well as spare parts support. From the very beginning the PETN became an important foundation for the NLS with both classes and over 30 competitors at times.

The championship includes a team and a driver ranking in both classes. In addition, each drivers' classification differentiates between “PRO/AM” for driver line-ups consisting of professionals and amateurs and “AM” for purely amateur driver pairings. The driver-pairing that has collected the most points across both classes at the end of the season will also be crowned ‘PETN Overall Champion’. The racing calendar usually comprises eight races – seven with a distance of four hours and one race with a distance of six hours. The famous 24 hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife is not part of the championship, however teams can participate under the same technical regulations and with the usual support from Manthey.

Moreover, the PETN is committed to offering an extensive and wide-ranging program beyond the racetrack. Physiotherapy sessions and workshops focus on driver development while guided tours of the pits, sponsoring events or Manthey company visits give teams and drivers a package that they can not only benefit from themselves, but they can also offer to their respective sponsors and partners. The Porsche One-Make Series also works on establishing long-term partnerships and is inviting different companies to get to know the Porsche One-Make Series and discuss the potential for utilizing synergies. For example, the PETN hosted a team event for the Talent Pool together with the kart engine manufacturer and organizer of renowned karting championships Rotax RMC Germany. Another recent collaboration with GIANT involved a guided mountain bike tour to the Nordschleife.

Porsche Carrera Cup France - A Cornerstone of Porsche Motorsport

At the foundation of the pyramid established by Porsche Motorsport, the Porsche Carrera Cup France is one of around 35 one-make series organized worldwide. It serves as a stepping stone to the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which runs as a support race for Formula 1 Grand Prix.

As the fastest one-make series in France, it has existed since 1987—initially under the name 944 Turbo Cup before becoming the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 1991. Over the years, it has seen successive generations of Porsche’s most iconic models, from the Porsche 944 Turbo to the various iterations of the Porsche 911 Cup (Type 964, 993, 996, 997, 991, and today, the 992).

Because all competitors race in technically identical cars, every driver starts on equal footing. Success depends entirely on driver’s skill and team performance.

Two main profiles of drivers make up the Porsche Carrera Cup France grid: Young talents (Pro) and Gentlemen Drivers (Pro-Am / Am).

From the first to the final race, they engage in thrilling battles across the championship’s various classifications:

  • Pro Category – Mainly for young drivers aiming to build a professional racing career and reach the highest levels of motorsport.

  • Pro-Am Category – Composed primarily of experienced Gentlemen Drivers with solid racing backgrounds.

  • Am Category – A new class dedicated to less-experienced Gentlemen Drivers discovering competition at the wheel of a 911 GT3 Cup.

  • In addition, there are separate Rookie (under 25) and Team standings to highlight all key players in the championship.

Championship Format

The championship features 12 races held over 6 rounds on circuits located in France and across Europe. Each event includes two free practice sessions, each lasting 40 minutes, followed by a single 30-minute qualifying session. Two races take place per round, with each race lasting 30 minutes plus one additional lap. Around 20 drivers are expected to participate in each race weekend.

From Kevin Estre, Mathieu Jaminet and Alessandro Ghiretti to many others, the Porsche Carrera Cup France is the benchmark championship for discovering Porsche talent.

Porsche Carrera Cup France to Introduce Mandatory ABS on 911 GT3 Cup Cars in 2026.

Porsche France announces a major technical evolution for the 2026 season of the Porsche Carrera Cup France: the mandatory activation of the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) on the 911 GT3 Cup cars. This decision is part of an alignment strategy with the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which will also adopt this technology starting next year.

This choice marks an important step in the development of customer racing at Porsche. It reflects the desire to offer a better balance between performance, safety, and accessibility, while ensuring technical consistency across the different levels of the Porsche Motorsport pyramid.

The 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup France will once again bring together a grid of experienced drivers, promising young talents, and passionate gentleman drivers. The integration of ABS enhances this diversity by reducing the margin for error under braking, increasing performance consistency, and promoting competitiveness, while preserving the technical demands of our One-Make Series.

This development will notably help less experienced drivers build confidence, while maintaining close gaps and maximum intensity on track. The adoption of ABS reflects the Porsche Carrera Cup France’s commitment to innovation, without compromising its DNA.

See you on the starting grid in 2026.
