Endurance Trophy New Zealand

Auckland, New Zealand. Armstrong’s Motorsport is ecstatic to announce that current IndyCar driver Marcus Armstrong, will compete in the South Island Endurance Championship, Round 3 (SIERDC) at Highlands Motorsport Park, Cromwell, on 17–18 October 2025.

Fresh from an outstanding season in the United States, where he finished 8th in the IndyCar Championship with Meyer Shank Racing driving the #66 Honda, Marcus will return to New Zealand to share the cockpit with his father and Armstrong’s founder, Rick Armstrong, in the three-hour endurance race.

The Armstrong’s will campaign an all-new Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Car, sporting fresh colours for the 2025 / 2026 season.

Flat out Family time.

This event marks a rare opportunity for fans to see a world-class driver like Marcus competing on home soil. For Rick Armstrong, it is also about having some pre-season fun with his son before he resumes his campaign in the Porsche Endurance Trophy New Zealand and the GT New Zealand Championship, where he aims to defend his title and secure a three-peat as GTNZ Open Class Champion.

“Racing alongside Marcus is something truly special. It is not often you get to share the track with your son, let alone one who is racing at the very highest level overseas,” says Rick. “Highlands is a great place for us to do this, and it is a fantastic warm-up before I get stuck into another GTNZ season.”

Marcus Brings IndyCar Stardust Home

Marcus Armstrong’s presence is expected to generate huge excitement among motorsport fans. Having established himself as one of the brightest young talents on the global stage, Marcus is relishing the chance to reconnect with New Zealand racing culture.

"Some of my earliest racing memories were of Porsche cup cars - watching my Dad race. It will be cool to share the car with him and race in front of a Kiwi crowd. It’s been a good season in IndyCar, and although the season has only just finished, I’m itching to get back in a race car." - Marcus Armstrong

A Weekend for Fans

Alongside the racing, fans will have the opportunity to meet Marcus at Highlands Motorsport Park during the event weekend, making this a must-attend occasion for Kiwi motorsport enthusiasts.
