Can a Porsche Esports Carrera Cup GB champion transition to real-life racing?

The fifth season of RAFA Racing Club Porsche Esports Carrera Cup GB is now underway. The virtual championship for professional sim racers seeks to mimic its real world counterpart as closely as possible, but can esports truly replicate the challenge of Porsche Carrera Cup GB? With Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing and Porsche GB, Sebastian Job from East Grinstead in Surrey is on a mission to find out.

Game To Glory: Level Up follows Sebastian on his journey from the sim to the seat of a real life 510 PS 911 GT3 Cup car, the same Porsche he has driven virtually to three Esports Carrera Cup GB titles (2021, 2023, 2024). The reigning champion has completed thousands of laps of a simulated Snetterton circuit, but how would he manage a full day of real life testing in Norfolk? Could his prowess in the sim translate on the track?

Porsche Motorsport GB partnered with Red Bull Racing and Red Bull Technology for the second instalment of its Game to Glory docuseries, created by Red Bull Racing Esports team. Episode one of four highlights the first stage of Sebastian’s transition from the sim rig to driving a real Formula One car. Porsche GB Motorsport and Red Bull engineers came together at Snetterton to provide technical support and an extensive production team, creating a unique opportunity for Sebastian to test a GT3 Cup car in those famous Red Bull colours – with an Esports twist.

Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2024 / 2025 Junior driver, James Wallis, adopted the role of Sebastian’s driver coach for the day, offering insight and guidance on the intricacies of the GT3 Cup, and setting a benchmark lap time. Sebastian’s mission for the day was to provide feedback, build confidence and develop consistency in his timed runs. How did Seb perform? To say he surprised everyone would be an understatement – watch the full episode now!

For Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) range and Equivalent All Electric Range (EAER) figures are determined with the battery fully charged, using a combination of both battery power and fuel.

Values are provided for comparison only. To the extent that fuel and energy consumption or CO2 values are given as ranges, these do not relate to a single, individual car and do not constitute part of the offer. Optional features and accessories can change relevant vehicle parameters such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics which may result in a change in fuel or energy consumption and CO2 values. Vehicle loading, topography, weather and traffic conditions, as well as individual driving styles, can all affect the actual fuel consumption, energy consumption, electrical range, and CO2 emissions of a car.
