2026 Porsche Talent Pool Programme

The new Porsche Talent Pool Programme supports young racing drivers as they seek a successful career in motorsport. Eligible participants took part in a two-day pre-season Training Camp at Silverstone, but that was just the beginning.

Attracting and encouraging young racing talent has long been a key objective for Porsche around the globe. The Porsche Talent Pool Programme from Porsche Cars GB is new for 2026, it is designed to support promising young racing drivers as they develop in all areas of their careers. Eligible racers from Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB, and Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge GB, are equipped with the tools they need to succeed, with a tailored package of support unlike anything else on offer in British motorsport.

A two-day pre-season Training Camp held at Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone, delivers tailored guidance on physical and mental preparation from Porsche Human Performance experts, a Michelin Tyre Masterclass, a technical session with the Porsche Motorsport GB Technical Team, and bespoke media training. This is followed by a mid-season review, taking place at Michelin’s UK headquarters, where drivers can share their progress, and continue to benefit from the insights shared through the initiative.

There are also impressive financial rewards on offer. Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB and Sprint Challenge GB participants battle for a generous cash prize, or an attractive discount on the following season’s Entry Fee, for the Talent Pool winner in each championship. All participants also receive bespoke Talent Pool Programme clothing and vehicle branding, helping them to stand-out in the busy Porsche paddock.

Ian Fletcher, Motorsport Assistant Manager: “The Talent Pool Programme is for new drivers to each of our championships, who are under 25 years old, with aspirations to improve their craft in the GT racing world. We've aligned with Porsche championships around the world, taking inspiration from what other markets do with their Talent Pool initiatives, or Junior Programmes, and using what we know from our own Junior Programme, to bring everything together.”

Pre-season Training Camp

In early April 2026, 10 Porsche Talent Pool Programme drivers assembled at Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone for the inaugural Pre-season Training Camp. From Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB came Oliver Meadows, Jonathan Moore, Isaac Phelps, Jack Sherwood, Jacob Tofts, and Archie Clark. And from the Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge GB grid, Chris Bingham, Max Watt, James Seale, and Lydia Walmsley.

Porsche Human Performance

On the first day at the state-of-the-art facility, Porsche Human Performance experts evaluated each participant, looking to establish a baseline for their fitness levels, while also offering educational sessions on training, nutrition, and sleep. Under laboratory conditions, each young driver underwent VO2 Max, Max Strength, and Strength Endurance testing, leading to a detailed individualised report, which can be taken away and used as a basis to improve in each key area. Later, interactive classroom-based sessions also provided information on how diet, and sleep play an important role in driver performance.

Jack Wilson, Sport & Exercise Scientist, Porsche Human Performance: “The purpose of our day is to give the Talent Pool drivers the opportunity to baseline their fitness through a range of different tests, assessing the physical qualities that we think are important in motorsport. We establish body composition, where they step on an analyser to assesses their muscle mass, and body fat percentage.

“We also look at cardiovascular endurance through a VO2 Max test – the gold standard for assessing cardiovascular fitness. And we look at strength through a variety of different qualities; max strength, strength endurance and power, flexibility and mobility too. It’s a really holistic insight into their fitness, ultimately enabling them to understand where they're doing well, and where they've got room for improvement.”

“There's no expectations on the drivers. This is not a pressurised environment like the Porsche Junior Shootout, where they're all trying to compete against each other to see who is the best. The purpose is to see how close to that ideal level of fitness they are for this style of racing, and to give them a sense of direction as to where they need to improve. And the second part of the session are the educational components, empowering them with the understanding as to how they can best go about improving. The areas that we cover are what we call our big three, that's training, nutrition and sleep, this helps shape their current habits to our ideals, steadily making improvements, and hopefully setting them in the right direction.”

Michelin Tyre Masterclass

With a group dinner followed by a restful night of sleep, the group reconvened at Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone, for a second day of activities, divided into three classroom-based workshops. A Michelin Tyre Masterclass, Porsche Motorsport GB Technical session, and a media training session, covering three highly important areas.

The Michelin session, delivered by Motorsport Manager at Michelin, Tim Hoare, sought to introduce the participants to the vast world of Michelin, going on to provide insight into how to extract the very best from the brand’s racing rubber.

Tim Hoare, Michelin Motorsport Manager: “I take them through the Michelin range and explain the unique opportunity they have. Whether they are driving the 911 GT3 Cup, or 718 Cayman GT4, they’re using a range of tyres made solely for that car. They'll probably never see this again in their racing careers, because if they move on to other GT racing, Hypercar, F1 even, you’re using a standard tyre to adapt to every car. Whereas here they're using a tyre that's made just for that car. That’s unusual.

“The other thing is to take them through is the detail of the construction of the tyre, how it's made up, the different layers in it, and the fact that it's made by us with great care. Some 130,000 people work for Michelin. Everything uses the best quality materials, from the steel, and the rubber, everything is the best, and it's all pointed down to your tyre, so make the most of it!”

Porsche Motorsport GB Technical Team

The session from the Porsche Motorsport GB Technical Team, seeks to help explain the intricate dynamics of the 911 GT3 Cup, 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, and 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. The second aim of the session is to provide participants with the tools, and knowledge they need in order to successfully interpret the complex data available from their cars, and to underline the kind of support drivers should expect to receive from Porsche, and their own respective teams.

Consulting Engineer, Porsche Motorsport, Alejandro Jiminez: “We've seen that one of the biggest problems for our drivers is communication between themselves and their engineer. I will guide them on what they can expect of a Porsche engineer, and what they should be expecting from their team engineer. We also show them how to communicate with engineers, and what they have to ask for in terms of elements such as run plans and strategy. And how to interpret alarms and signals from the car.

“We show them how valuable data can be, where to download the correct software, and how they can use data to improve their throttle, braking, and steering application. We also cover how they can create their own track map, splitting each track into sections, and analysing a lap corner by corner, and how they can integrate this into their own workbooks, to improve on concepts like braking and driving smoothness. They can set parameters, make KPIs, put them a spreadsheet, and it will show them them how to win races.”

Media Training

The importance of the media is not to be underestimated by any young racing driver, but speaking confidently with journalists, and even stakeholders, is a skill many struggle to master. The Talent Pool Programme participants are evaluated by a media expert, and provided with bespoke tips and tricks to improve their ability, skills they are sure to find useful for media interviews, with social media content, and when talking to partners and sponsors.

Sports Media Specialist, Sam Lloyd: “We’re instilling confidence, but also really underscoring that these drivers are starting out as a shop window for Porsche. We really want them to start thinking of themselves as a brand. So the training not only focuses on dealing with the media, but also about presentational skills. Be it talking to a potential sponsor, or talking at the Porsche awards ceremony at the end of the season. So, for some, it's very much a case of fine tuning them to take them to the next level, and for others, of nurturing and giving that confidence.”

Class dismissed, for now.

The first Porsche Talent Pool Programme from Porsche Cars GB was a success, equipping participants in both championships with the tools they’ll need to succeed in 2026. But the two days at Silverstone for the pre-season camp are just the beginning, with ongoing support on offer throughout the season, and the opportunity to revisit learnings later in the year.

Manager, Motorsport, James MacNaughton: “The Talent Pool Programme is a highly valuable initiative in terms of coaching, educating, and empowering our young drivers. For some of these participants this is their first real taste of Porsche, so to see them all enjoying themselves, and taking so much away from it, is gratifying. And for us, it has also been nice to spend a couple of days away from the racetrack, getting to know them better in a different environment. We hope they now have the confidence to see that each member of the Porsche team is here to help them, not just now, but throughout the year.”

Ian Fletcher, Motorsport Assistant Manager: “To be able to take two days to run through all these things, has been fantastic. And what we've seen is that it's been really helpful for these young people, who have all engaged, and are going to go away with some tangible benefits. When we reconvene mid-season, we can see what progress has been made, what’s worked for them, and what hasn’t.”

The second part of the 2026 Programme, held at Michelin’s UK headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, takes place in the middle of the racing season.

Jacob Tofts, Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB: “I do a lot of training myself, but I've never had the opportunity to work with the level of facilities and expertise here to understand if what I'm doing is good, and where I'm at in my fitness overall. Even talking with Jack and the team as we've been doing, just tapping into their knowledge, has been very helpful and very useful.”

Archie Clark, Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB: “I have personal training sessions once a week, but I've learned quite a bit here on how things work, I kind of know where I'm at, and what I need to work on now. Because I'm quite tall, I need to work on my lower back as that's my limiting factor at the moment.”

Max Watt, Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge GB: “Considering the Programme is something that's offered as part of the championship, I’ve been quite impressed. People would realistically pay a fortune to hear some of the stuff we got from Jack, so that was very insightful. The session on tyres was interesting too. And the media training was good. It's not really something you can be great at from the get go, I don't think, but every time you do stuff like that, you improve. I think we're very lucky to get this opportunity.”

Lydia Walmsley, Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge GB: “Having this support from Porsche is really important because it makes the championship more well-rounded. It's not just turning up on a race weekend and going racing. It's actually giving you the knowledge that you can take further into Porsche racing, but also into your career going forward.

“With the media side, if you don't know what you're doing wrong, you’re never going to improve. I want to be the best that I can be in all aspects. And I think sometimes media can be neglected, whereas in actual fact, I think it's one of the most important parts of motorsport.”
