Thrilling Silverstone races deliver another new winner.

Silverstone’s International circuit provided two of the most exciting races in Porsche Esports Carrera Cup GB championship history. Charlie Collins from Monmouthshire delivered a lights-to-flag victory in Round Seven as those behind battled. And there was a new winner in Round Eight, as Aidan Walsingham from Bath produced a skilful defence to become the fourth driver to take a maiden championship victory in 2026.

Meanwhile, Christian Szaruta from London further advanced his Amateur category advantage, with two victories at the home of British motorsport to strengthen his championship challenge. In the overall championship standings, at the midpoint of the season, William Chadwick from Wigan leads Sebastian Job from East Grinstead, Surrey, by a narrow margin of three championship points.

Collins and Walsingham top Pro Collins staked an early claim on pole position in qualifying at Silverstone and improved his lap time in the dying moments to cement the top spot for the start of Round Seven – his first pole of the season. Collins was joined on the front row of the grid by Job. Collins was able to defend his lead at the start of the race, leaving Job trailing in second, and with Matt J Caruana from Berkshire advancing up to third.

Job soon came under pressure from Caruana and his Emm Esports teammate, Chadwick. When Caruana’s attack faded, Chadwick took over, adopting third place and closing on Job. With eight minutes remaining of the timed race, championship rivals Chadwick and Job were absolutely together, with Chadwick searching for a way ahead. And, in the final moments, Chadwick attacked Job with Caruana close behind, but he was denied at the last opportunity. Collins took the flag first with Job finishing second, just ahead of Chadwick and Caruana in an exciting conclusion.

Walsingham started Round Eight from reverse grid pole position, with Jamie Fluke from Leicestershire alongside. P,eter Berryman from County Antrim in Northern Ireland, and Remy Gilbert from Buckinghamshire formed the second row of the grid. At the start there was no change in the order of the top three, but Caruana made a quick getaway, moving from fifth to fourth, while Chadwick jumped championship rival, Job, to take fifth. In the second half of the race, Collins passed Gilbert for seventh place, as Job closed on Chadwick.

In the final 10 minutes of racing, Caruana broke the deadlock with a successful attack on Berryman for third. Berryman lost out in the scrap as Chadwick subsequently snatched fourth, and Job took fifth. Job was soon forced to defend from Collins. Just ahead, Caruana secured second with a pass to the inside line at Stowe, and Chadwick followed him through. Walsingham came under intense pressure from the tag team of Caruana and Chadwick for the lead in the final few minutes of the race. Caruana attacked at every opportunity but Walsingham produced an impressive defence.

On the final lap there were six cars involved in the close battle for overall victory but despite a final attack from Caruana, Walsingham took the flag ahead, with Caruana finishing in second and Chadwick crossing the line in third. Following the race, for an incident between Will Eatwell and Kieran Harding, 10 seconds was added to the race time of Eatwell.

Szaruta increases Am championship lead Szaruta established himself as the Am category driver to beat in qualifying, and he would start the first race at Silverstone ahead of Conan Wearn and Kieran Harding – both from Norfolk. Szaruta maintained his lead in the early stages of the opening race at Silverstone, with Harding and Scott Moakes from Bedfordshire batting for second. Wearn spun out of the race in the final five minutes of racing and made his retirement. Szaruta took the checkered flag, with Harding finishing in second and Moakes in third.

Szaruta started the second race ahead of his Am rivals, but Moakes soon found his way ahead, with Szaruta now in second, and Guy R Edwards from Surrey in third. As the race progressed Szaruta got back ahead in his close fight with Moakes, with Edwards still third. And that is how the order remained to the flag, with Szaruta further increasing his category championship advantage.

The championship travels to its now traditional ‘fly away’ races on 11 March, this time with a visit to the Barcelona-Catalunya – as voted for by the followers of the @PorscheRaces_GB Instagram channel.
