Job and Gilbert master wet weather conditions at Oulton Park.
Sebastian Job from East Grinstead, Surrey, overcame tricky wet weather conditions to take Porsche Esports Carrera Cup GB victory at Oulton Park in Round Five of the championship. And there was a new winner in Round Six: Remy Gilbert from Buckinghamshire secured his maiden victory after the winner on the road, Charlie Collins from Monmouthshire, was handed a post-race time penalty.
Christian Szaruta from London drove to two Amateur category wins on the Island circuit after newcomer, Liam O’Sullivan from Chelmsford, incurred a penalty from the stewards in Round Six. Following an action-packed evening at Oulton Park, Job has now closed to within three points of William Chadwick from Wigan in the overall championship battle.
Job and Gilbert win in Pro The Oulton Park circuit was initially dry for the start of qualifying, but rain began to fall as the session progressed. Job timed his run perfectly to secure a second pole position of the season, and he would start the first race ahead of Collins and Matt J Caruana from Berkshire. Job held his nerve in slippery conditions at the start, racing ahead through Old Hall Corner. Caruana challenged Collins for second at Cascades but, following contact, Collins slipped backwards allowing Chadwick to grab third.
As the cars navigated the Island hairpin for the first time, Gareth Higgins from Exeter lost control leading to several drivers being delayed. Chadwick soon passed Caruana for second place, while Gilbert and Leo Gariboli from Hertfordshire looked to mount a similar challenge. Caruana successfully managed to defend third place from his attackers, despite a string of cars now pressuring him in close formation.
Job was able to build a comfortable lead despite the extremely difficult driving conditions, leaving him clear to take the chequered flag for his second win of 2026. Job was joined on the overall podium by Chadwick and Caruana. However, following the race, for an incident between Caruana and Collins, five seconds were added to Caruana’s race time, promoting Gariboli to the final podium place.
Peter Berryman from County Antrim in Northern Ireland started the second race from reverse grid pole position, with Aidan Walsingham from Bath alongside. When the lights went out, Walsingham snatched the race lead using the inside line at Old Hall, but Berryman retaliated at Cascades, moving ahead after contact between the pair. Several cars encountered issues at the Island hairpin pinch point, leading to delays and a handful of retirements. However, at the front of the race, Berryman led Gilbert from Collins in a close battle for the overall lead.
Collins overtook Gilbert for second with 19 minutes remaining, and he soon closed on leader, Berryman. Collins struck at Knickerbrook, where there was contact – this sent Berryman through the gravel trap and left Collins free to adopt the race lead. Collins now led Gilbert and Gariboli, with a recovering Berryman back in ninth place. Sensing a looming penalty for his move on Berryman, Collins pushed to create a comfortable gap. He took chequered flag with a six second cushion back to Gilbert, with Gariboli crossing the finish line in third.
Following the race, Berryman received five-second time penalty for his incident with Walsingham. For an incident between Fraser Hart and Jamie Fluke, 10 seconds were added to Fluke’s race time. Two seconds were added to the race time of Collins for his incident with Gilbert, and Collins received a further 10-second time penalty for contact with Berryman. This handed overall victory to Gilbert in the revised finishing order, with Gariboli second and Chadwick third.
Szaruta takes Am championship lead Szaruta had the measure of his rivals in qualifying and would start the first race at Oulton Park ahead of Kieran Harding from Norfolk, and Scott Moakes from Bedfordshire. Szaruta maintained his advantage at the start. Szaruta came under increasing pressure from Harding in the second half of the race as the latter closed the gap between the pair. In the final minutes of racing, Harding briefly left the circuit before continuing, which drew the battle to a close. The final order at the flag was Szaruta, Harding, and Sebastian Hawkins from Kent.
Following the race, for an incident between Scott Moakes and Tom Stevens, the latter was given a 10-second time penalty.
Szaruta started the second race ahead in Am, but the order was shuffled with drama at the Island hairpin on the opening lap. Newcomer O’Sullivan emerged as the category leader in only his second Porsche Esports Carrera Cup GB race. Edwards was now running second, with Szaruta in third. Edwards got ahead of O’Sullivan as the race progressed, but on the final lap, O’Sullivan retook the Am lead to cross the finish line first, with Szaruta second and Edwards recovering to third.
Following the race, for an incident between O’Sullivan and Edwards, two seconds were added to O’Sullivan’s race time. This gave a second victory to Szaruta, with Edwards now second and O’Sullivan relegated to third in the final order. Following the visit to Oulton Park, Szaruta has moved into the lead of the Am championship.
