Porsche Cars GB poised to kick-start 2026 motorsport season
Reading, Great Britain. Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB, the fastest single-marque GT racing championship in the UK, and Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge GB, the GT championship for the Porsche mid-engined coupe, start their 2026 race season on the weekend of 16-19 April. Continuing with their traditional position, racing in support of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), the action gets underway at Donington Park in Leicestershire, with free-to-air terrestrial television coverage broadcast live by ITV, and online around the world.
For the 2026 season, Porsche welcomes Carwow, one of the UK’s leading online destinations for car changing, as the official title partner of both championships. The partnership celebrates the passion, competition and community that define Porsche one-make racing. And it comes at a significant time, as Porsche marks 75 years of motorsport around the world in 2026, while Porsche Cars Great Britain commemorates 75 years of sales in the UK – celebrating the arrival of the first 356 models arriving in 1951.
In an evolution of its successful format, Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB enters its 24th consecutive season with drivers racing the (Type 992.1) 510 PS Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in three categories – Pro, Pro-Am and Masters. A calendar of 16 races will take place across eight weekends, with an exciting mix of returning drivers and intriguing newcomers, led by Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB 2026 / 2027 Junior, Callum Voisin. The new Junior joins reigning Teams champions, Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport. While supporting the ethos of the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid, three drivers progress from Sprint Challenge GB, including Jacob Tofts, Oliver Meadows and Jonathan Moore.
The 2026 season sees changes to the Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB race format. At events where the championship appears alongside Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge GB, the familiar qualifying and reverse grid format remains. On standalone Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup GB race weekends, the reverse grid format is removed, and a new split qualifying format will feature, with two 15-minute qualifying sessions. The result of Qualifying One will determine the starting grid for Race One, while Qualifying Two will decide the starting grid for Race Two.
Porsche Carwow Sprint Challenge GB enters its seventh season, and will celebrate its 100th race at Knockhill this summer. The championship continues with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport racing alongside the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Drivers in the GT4 RS Clubsport race in either the RS Pro or RS Am categories, joined by GT4 Clubsport racers, now in a single Clubsport category. A busy calendar of 18 races will take place across six weekends, on four occasions the championship will unite with Carrera Cup GB on the same roster. The healthy grid includes several talented returnees and exciting newcomers, with the majority of drivers opting to compete with the GT4 RS Clubsport.
