Will Martin and Sid Smith win as Porsche Carrera Cup GB visits the UK’s fastest circuit.

Will Martin (Eden Motorsport), from Hastings in East Sussex, overtook Andrew Rackstraw (Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport), from Cape Town in South Africa, to win the first of two Porsche Carrera Cup GB races at Thruxton. The second race at the UK’s fastest circuit was taken by Sid Smith (Team Parker Racing) from Maldon in Essex – he enjoyed the maiden win of his Porsche racing career.

In the Pro-Am category, Oliver Jackson (JTR) from Reigate in Surrey fought off the advances of Max Coates (Duckhams Yuasa Racing by Graves Motorsport) from Richmond in North Yorkshire, winning Rounds Five and Six. In the Am battle, Carl Cavers (Century Motorsport) from Nottingham and Jonathon Beeson (Duckhams Yuasa Racing by Graves Motorsport) from Crewe shared category honours.

Martin and Smith win in Pro Rackstraw took pole position in qualifying for Sunday’s first race, he finished the session just 0.029 seconds ahead of Martin. At the start of Round Five, RAFA Racing Club Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2024 / 2025 Junior James Wallis (JTR), from Ledbury in Herefordshire, was quick away from the second row of the grid. However, Rackstraw was able to lead Martin and the chasing pack. As the race settled, George Gamble (Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport) from Nottingham looked for a way by Wallis for third, but he soon incurred a time penalty for track limits – this relegated him to sixth on corrected time.

Throughout the race, Martin applied pressure to Rackstraw, and in the last two laps he finally found a way to gain an overlap though Seagrave and Noble, successfully snatching the lead. Gamble soon received an additional time penalty for track limits, relegating him further down the order. Martin reached the chequered flag first to take his second win of the season, Rackstraw came home in second, with Wallis completing the overall podium. After the race, the winner drew the number six ball, reversing the top six grid positions for the weekend’s second race. This meant that Smith would start on pole position.

Smith got away cleanly from pole position at the start of the weekend’s second race. Wallis made another fast start to squeeze between Angus Whiteside (Century Motorsport) from Guildford, and Sebastian Hopkins (Team Parker Racing) from Chichester in Hampshire. However, there was contact which sent Hopkins into the barriers. The race was neutralised as the car of Hopkins was recovered. At the restart on lap five, Smith led Whiteside from Wallis. As Whiteside looked to pass Smith for the lead, Martin challenged Wallis for third, but their positions remained the same.

Martin overtook Wallis for third on lap six, and Rackstraw then began to close on the Junior with Gamble very close behind. On lap nine, the trio ran side-by-side as they drove out of Seagrave, but Wallis stayed ahead as Rackstraw and Gamble ran out of road. A few laps later, Gamble attacked Rackstraw, passing his team mate on the inside at Church for fifth place. In the dying moments of the race, Martin closed on Whiteside, but he could not find a route through. Smith was clear to take the maiden win of his Porsche racing career, joined on the overall podium by Whiteside and Martin.

Following the race, George Gamble was demoted three finishing positions for gaining an unfair advantage when he left the circuit at the chicane.

Jackson is top in Pro-Am Coates qualified ahead of his Pro-Am category rivals on Saturday and would start Sunday’s race from the third row of the grid. However, at the start of Round Five, Coates slipped backwards as Jackson grabbed the category lead, Coates was now second with White in third. Coates quickly went on the attack, he and Jackson involved Pro category racer Sid Smith in their battle. Smith eventually got ahead of both drivers leaving Coates to pressure Jackson. Despite several attempts, Coates could not find a way back through, leaving Jackson to take his first Pro-Am win of the season, with Coates and Oliver White (Eden Motorsport) from Bath in Somerset joining him on the podium.

Jackson was the Pro-Am category leader again at the start of Round Six, racing ahead of Coates and White. During the Safety Car period, Josh Stanton (JTR) from Oxford retired to the pit lane following an incident with Will Jenkins (Team Parker Racing) from Stafford. After the race restarted, Coates pressured Jackson for the Pro-Am lead once more – he tried to pass in several places but, in a repeat of the day’s first encounter, he could not get ahead. The category podium for Round Six was therefore a repeat of Round Five, formed by Jackson, Coates and White.

Cavers and Beeson share Am category honours Beeson qualified 0.174 seconds ahead of category rival Cavers in Saturday’s 30-minute qualifying session. Beeson led Cavers at the start of the weekend’s first race, and the pair ran in close proximity throughout Round Five. On the penultimate lap Cavers overtook his rival to secure his third category win of 2025. It was a reversal in Round Six, with Beeson finishing ahead of Cavers for his third category victory of the year.
