As a new season begins, here’s a preview of Porsche Motorsport’s activities in January.

With the start of a new year comes plenty of opportunities to kick off new campaigns, with Formula E already underway and with other championships just getting started.

The endurance racing calendar will kick off this month with the 24 Hours of Daytona, held at Daytona International Speedway on January 24-25.

Watch the team tackle the gruelling race around the iconic oval, with its steep banking and road course section: a true test of driver and machine.

With Formula E having already gotten its season started in December, the all-electric championship returns with two events in January.

The Mexico City E-Prix is first up on January 10, with the Miami E-Prix three weeks later.

Here’s a full preview of all the Porsche Motorsport activities taking place in January:

IMSA: 24 Hours of Daytona

Porsche Penske Motorsport will be gunning for its third consecutive win at the 24 Hours of Daytona, taking place on January 24-25.

After winning all championship titles in both the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the factory team will again be the team to beat next season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

With victories from the #7 car in both 2024 and 2025, can the team make it three in a row?

Taking place at the iconic Daytona International Speedway on the Florida coast, the IMSA season opener will be preceded by the Roar Before the 24 - the traditional pre-event test, taking place on January 17 and 18.

The team will field new line-ups in 2026: Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor will move across from the World Endurance Championship to take the wheel of the #6 car, and will be joined by reigning IMSA champion Matt Campbell for the season opener.

The #7 sister car will be shared by Felipe Nasr and Julien Andlauer, with newly promoted Porsche factory driver Laurin Heinrich alongside them for the endurance rounds.

The US customer team JDC-Miller MotorSports will also be back on the grid in 2026 with a Porsche 963. The #85 car will be driven by Bryce Aron, Nico Pino and Tijmen van der Helm.

AO Racing will field a Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) in the GTD Pro class, while Manthey makes its IMSA debut in both GTD Pro and GTD.

The race marks the opening round of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with the top class of GTP cars taking part in nine races.

The 64th Rolex 24 at Daytona will get underway at 1:40pm local time / 7:40pm CET on January 24.

Formula E: Mexico City and Miami

Formula E returns after its Christmas break for two races in January, travelling first to Mexico City before heading to an all-new venue in Miami.

The Mexico City E-Prix, taking place at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on January 10, marks the second round of 17 and is sure to bring another thrilling race.

Formula E has been visiting the circuit, famed for hosting Formula 1’s Mexican Grand Prix, since 2016.

The Porsche Formula E Team took a 1-2 at this race last season, with Pascal Wehrlein scoring victory, and will be fighting for more success in 2026.

Round 3 will be held at the Miami International Autodrome on January 31, marking a new venue on the calendar.

The championship previously raced at Miami-Homestead Speedway, but will now take in the twists and turns of the Hard Rock Stadium and surrounding circuit which Formula 1 uses.

After the opening round in São Paulo, the Porsche Formula E Team is level with leaders Andretti in the teams’ standings on 25 points, and Porsche leads the manufacturers’ championship with 37 points.

In the drivers’ championship, Wehrlein is currently joint-third on 15 points, with Nico Müller in fifth on 10 points.
