Running since 2008, the hugely successful Porsche Carrera Cup GB Junior Programme strives to find and nurture the best young racing talent.
Candidates are put through their paces on and off the track at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone. Not only does the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Junior have to be an outstanding racing driver, they must show that their media and fitness skills can be developed to ensure they are the perfect ambassador for Porsche.
In addition to the normal racing calendar, the junior attends high-profile events such as Goodwood Festival of Speed and other networking events that boost their exposure.
The chosen Junior benefits from £85,000 per annum towards their racing budget, support from Porsche Motorsport GB Engineers, specialist media training and a full fitness programme with the Porsche Human performance team. In addition to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Junior, the highest ranked and eligible driver in 2024-2025 will also be invited to the Porsche Junior Shootout, where they will compete against leading Porsche Carrera Cup drivers from around the world for a position on the prestigious programme.
The latest name added to the illustrious list is Porsche GB 2024/2025 Junior James Wallis. With the assistance of partner, RAFA Racing Club, Porsche aims to shape this talented prospect into a championship-winning racer. James already made a memorable debut on the famous Goodwood hill climb in 2024, finishing third overall, and first in class, in the Festival of Speed’s reputed Timed Shootout.
The year ahead will see James continue to enjoy the support of Porsche throughout the forthcoming Carrera Cup GB season. His bespoke Porsche Human Performance training programme comes alongside a supported drive in a Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup event. The progression of his technical expertise with Carrera Cup GB Engineers, and the further development of his media skills, will be allied to commercial exposure at selected Porsche Cars GB and Porsche Motorsport GB events in 2025.
"Entering the championship as the RAFA Racing Club Porsche Carrera Cup GB Junior Driver has been a privilege. In such a challenging championship, 2024 was my toughest year in motorsport, but it has pushed me to new limits. The dedication required both on and off the circuit has been immense, with time spent prepping for racing with Porsche Human Performance, and lots of simulator work.
The paddock is incredibly friendly but extremely competitive, I’ve built some amazing friendships. Representing Porsche at events like Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Formula E, resulted in 2024 being my busiest year in motorsport – I’ve loved every second! The support from Porsche has been unbelievable, and I was so happy to finish the year on a high with my best result yet, providing extra motivation as I head into my second year as Junior."
